Purpose–Thepurposeofthisstudyistopresentthelandscapeofthecash-per-publicationrewardpolicyinChinaandrevealitstrendsincethelates.Design/methodology/approach–Thisstudyisbasedontheanalysisofuniversitydocumentsregardingthecash-per-publicationrewardpolicyatChineseuniversities.Findings–Chineseuniversitiesoffercashrewardsfrom30to,USDforpaperspublishedinjournalsindexedbyWebofScience(WoS),andtheaveragerewardamounthasbeenincreasingforthepast10years.Originality/value–Thecash-per-publicationrewardpolicyinChinahasneverbeensystematicallystudiedandinvestigatedbeforeexceptforinsomecasestudies.Thisisthefirstpaperthatrevealsthelandscapeofthecash-per-publicationrewardpolicyinChina.Keywords——China,monetaryreward,cash-per-publication,Chineseuniversity,journalpublication,WebofScience.
